Storm Heaven is a song inspired by rebellion, joy and escaping the mundane. Inspired by a turn of phrase often uttered by Trampolene frontman Jack Jones’s grandad before his passing.
Now, the expansive track has been given a new lease of life with a new electronic remix by Andy Bell of Oasis and Ride.

‘Storm Heaven’ appeared on Trampolene’s 2017 debut album ‘Swansea To Hornsey’, and is also the title of the Swansea bands documentary. It’s the first release since the band became a 4-piece. Jack Jones (Frontman and guitar), Mr Williams (Drums) and Wayne Thomas (Bass) are now joined by Thomas’s brother Lee on guitar. A shift that allows Jones to flex his frontman capabilities.
Bell completely reworks the original track, stripping the bands signature indie rock arrangement and replacing it with a kaleidoscopic, hypnotic setting.
One big distinction in this new rendition, is Jones’s spoken word rendition takes centre stage, serving its purpose as the standout feature for the track.
Andy Bell says of this remix: “Jack’s spoken word on ‘Storm Heaven’ was the catalyst for me choosing this track to work on. I wanted to set his marvelous speaking voice against an electronic setting, and this was a remix which came together easily and pretty quickly, which is always a good sign.”

Many readers of this post will know of my love and affection for Trampolene, and I’ve been fortunate enough to catch them play ‘Storm Heaven’ live.
It serves a purpose as a late-set anthem, often leaning heavily into indie-punk chaos, inciting stage invasions and conducting riotous chants. On special occasions, drummer Mr Williams vacates the drum kit to add a haunting, cinematic layer on his violin.
Jack Jones said: “Storm Heaven’ has always meant a great deal to me because it was inspired by something my grandfather used to say before he passed away. That made trusting someone else with it feel significant, but Andy was the perfect person.”
He continued “I’ve admired his music for years, and he found something in the song that even I hadn’t heard before. He kept the heart of the original while opening it up into something completely new. It feels like discovering the song all over again.”
Trampolene have been busy the past few months, with a headline tour of France, Wales and North West England, plus Inspiral Carpets, Ocean Colour Scene, Babyshambles and Public Image Ltd supports.
In autumn and winter, after their summer festivals and Moto Grand Prix show, they will tour with Republica, again with Ocean Colour Scene and Happy Mondays. Trampolene are no strangers to some of music’s biggest stages having previously opened for the likes of Liam Gallagher and The Libertines in their build to becoming a formidable headline act in their own right.
