Frank Levers artistically known as PubKId is a Nottingham/Derby based indie singer- songwriter, delivering gritty and authentic, stripped-back indie-folk melodies with a raw storytelling edge.
Drawing inspiration from his legendary counterpart troubadours such as Bob Dylan and David Bowie, PubKid crafts heartfelt songs rooted in a story telling narrative depicting tales of everyday life.
Having built a loyal fan following across the Midlands taking in local festivals and venues, PubKid recently took his music to the next level by heading to the mecca of many a seasoned musician before him and recording new material at The Libertines HQ, The Albion Rooms in Margate with the award winning in-house sound engineer, Jason Stafford (The Libertines, Trampolene, Jamie T).
PubKid’s signature sound combines honest, conversational lyricism with memorable acoustic melodies, showcased in previous releases such as ‘Fell Out of Bed’ and ‘Life Temptation’ for which he received praise and plays from BBC Introducing.
PubKid is now gearing up for the release of his latest offering the unassumingly sublime ‘This Is The Place’. The gentle strumming of the acoustic guitar is perfectly paired with PubKid’s gentle yet powerful vocal harmonies. The story unfolds in the verses, the listener becoming more and more invested in the tale before the song somewhat abruptly ends on a question mark “I don’t know if this is the place” adding to the poignant potency of the track that belies a deep and thought provoking message beneath the melody.
FFO- Bob Dylan, Jake Bugg and Gerry Cinnamon.
The artist has said of the track:-
“The track ‘This is The Place’ is about uncertainty, escape, trying to find solid ground while everything around you is becoming unstable. Then you ask yourself, is this the place?”
‘This Is The Place’ was written and composed by Frank Levers as PubKid and was recorded at The Albion Rooms in Margate with Daniel Lloyd on Producing and Mixing duties.
Coming up next PubKid will be gigging this autumn and has plans to return to the studio in November to record more new music.
