Feels So Real
Ah, so they’ve only done and done it again! Seriously this is a band that just keeps on getting better and better. From the early days of their debut single release on Alan McGee’s record label in June 2019; “Bills and Pills”, I knew then as I stood in front of that stage at the Nottinghill Arts Club that I was witnessing something very special; the very future of rock n roll was unveiling itself right in front of my eyes and ears as a little then know four piece band from Galway did their thing. They were mesmerising in every sense of the word and I am truly honoured to have been able to work so closely with them from the outset.

Every single release The Clockworks have had, has packed an absolute knock out punch with their penchant for everyday realism and James’ machine gun delivery of the lyrics coupled with post punk ferocious, electrifying, thrashing guitars, heavy base lines and precision pounding drums.

The latest single from the London based, Galway rockers comes in as the 6th single release from the band following on from their other hits ‘Bills and Pills’ “Can I Speak to a Manager” “Stranded in Stansted” “The Future is Not What it Was” and “Enough Is Never Enough” all of which received praise on BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac show on her “New Names” showcase, as well as on BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq “Recommends Show” and further receiving day-time radio play on RTÉ 2FM, and impressing the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer show on Sirius XM in America.
Feels So Real is another fast paced post punk banger, a stone cold stone sure fire hit, mixing The Clockworks now signature sound together with the everyday observational commentary style delivery of the lyrics. Its another sure fire hit which received its first ever world wide exclusive play on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio One show last night *18.03.21)
The song tells the tale of life in the everyday from the urban decay apparent in the waking hours to the decadent buzz and glamour of the nightlife that only a city like London can portray.
Prior to the pandemic,The Clockworks were on the brink of the big time, and in 2019/20 as they travelled across Europe with live performances at festivals including Eurosonic and Electric Picnic, performing to a huge crowd at Sefton Park in Liverpool supporting the Kings of Leon, as well as an early head-turning televised appearance on Sky 1’s Soccer AM. They also received coverage in the main stream music media with Louder Than War Magazine praising their: “devilish eccentricity and high energy. They look as sharp as they sound”, and CLASH effusing their ‘ferocious sense of purpose, with the careering post-punk guitar lines’.
So 2021 better watch out because this year undoubtedly belongs to the outstandingly sublime band that is The Clockworks xx
