THE MAN WHO KNOWS THAT WHAT HE KNOWS IS NOWT
Tom Bright, is a singer/songwriter from Derby, England. He has already worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry and has recorded with the likes of Mick Jones (The Clash and Big Audio Dynamite) on production.
At the start of 2018, his first release ‘Schoolyard Crimes’ encountered national radio exposure across the UK’s best new music station BBC Radio 6 and Tom has also been championed by the likes of Guy Garvey (BBC 6 music) and John Kennedy (Radio X).
Tom’s first two singles of 2021 were both crowned as X-Posure Hot Ones on Radio X, and had support from multiple BBC and RTE radio stations.
Tom has previously performed at Glastonbury Festival, and also featured in a Q Music Film of the Year Nominee.
Tom now brings us an absolute cracker of a third single “The Man who knows that what he knows is nowt”, which is from his upcoming second album. It’s a Derbyshire spin on Socrates’ Defence by Plato – quirky catchy with an infectious, typical Tom Bright chorus.
This single was produced by Ed Harcourt(who has also released music himself, and who has written for other British artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Paloma Faith, and has further performed with Marianne Faithfull and The Libertines). Mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, who has worked his magic on many of the world’s well known artists, such as The Beatles, Queen, The Who and The Rolling Stones to name but a few.
This new track is so catchy, and has toe tapping melody to it. I really loved the lyrics to this track, even if the title is a bit of a tongue twister, but this does not deter me from listening to the genius lyrics, as well as the music, with the stripped back acoustic guitar flowing in the urban folk type track. There are elements of James Bay, Passenger, Tom Odell, as well as Mumford and Sons. I, historically speaking, have never been one for folk music, but I am absolutely loving this great track from Tom Bright, and I will no doubt be listening to more of his music, and keeping a lookout for any tour dates coming up once the pandemic has calmed down. With over 23,000 monthly listeners, you can check his music out on spotify.
The generating excitement for this artist has seen him recently sign to International Talent Booking, which is absolutely fantastic for him. I’m looking forward to hearing more and seeing more of Tom Bright, and truly believe that he is one to look out for, for sure.
