WE WERE YOUNG

Wez King is an accomplished singer/songwriter hailing from Maidstone in Kent. Following on from his last single release ‘M.H.’ back in May 2022, which received much critical acclaim from the likes of BBC radio and high end press, Wez is now back with his latest offering, the feel good, reminiscent tune of ‘We Were Young’.

‘We Were Young’ is one of those tracks that makes you feel all misty eyed in remembrance of the heady, carefree days of your youth. It lifts you up and gives you that devil may care attitude almost making you want to do it all again, by reclaiming a slice of wild abandonment in homage to your adolescent, but then looking that little bit harder and realising that although things have changed, that actually,  how much better things are now.

With its strumming guitars, jangly tambourines, and 60’s esq drum beats, it’s an earworm of a song that’ll have you tapping your toes and singing along with a big smile on your face.

Lyrically, the tune depicts the tale of a misspent youth “When we were young we’d shoot the lights, kick up a fuss and start a fight, we’d let go and dance to techno.. A puff of smoke, a white line, made the walls a better time, we’d let go and make some demos. I liked you then, but now I like you better now things have changed.”

Indeed, Wez has said of the track:

“ I wrote this  track whilst reminiscing about “the good old days” at the peak of teenage life. The song is about partying, learning from mistakes, growing up and friendship. It’s one of those tunes to sing along to with your best mate.”

Wez is no stranger to the music scene having previously been in a successful band, Tres Kings, before deciding to branch out as a solo artist. He has been  featured on KMTV, and played at Neverworld and Bearded Theory Festivals having been billed alongside artists such as Doves, Tom Grennan and The Vaccines.

‘We Were Young.’ was written by Wez King and features him on Guitar, Piano, Tambourine and Vocals, with Tim Jarzebek on drums and Sabid Dhinsa on Bass The track was recorded at The Libertines HQ in Margate, The Albion Rooms, and was recorded and mixed by Jason Stafford and mastered by Graham Waller.
