Sheffield-based indie-rock band Matilda Shakes recently released thier latest single ‘Transmission’, which is the first track to be taken from their newly announced EP ‘The Limit’ which is due for release in February 2027.
Having picked up BBC Introducing airplay ahead of it’s release, the bands says that ‘Transmission’ signals the beginning of a new chapter for them.
With ‘Transmission’ Matlia Shakes deliver an explosive indie rock anthem built around driving heavy guitar riifs, pounding drums and huge chorus hooks.
The track serves as a gritty and rousing call to arms for the band. A statement of intent from them as to what to fans can expect from them as they move into the next exciting chapter of their career. They’ve really levelled up and honed and perfected their sound with this track and we can’t wait to hear what else they’ve got in store with thier upcoming EP release.
Opening with the line “Wired to the madness, plugged in the scene,” the track dives headfirst into a world of noise, overload and restless energy. Its verses build through television screens, signals, voltage and chaos.
‘Transmission’ was recorded at Magic Garden Studios with Gavin Monaghan & Liam Radburn.
‘Transmission’ follows a huge run of momentum for the Sheffield band, including a packed Leadmill Stage at Tramlines Festival 2026, a performance during the Silverstone F1 weekend, BBC Introducing support, Spotify editorial placements and inclusion across major sporting playlists.
The band head out on a UK tour this October, beginning with a major hometown headline show at The Foundry, Sheffield on 3 October 2026, bringing ‘Transmission’ into the live set less than a month after release..
