LAURA

Following on from his first solo release in 2018 “No Thank You” Kyle Falconer is back with his second solo effort and the first single to be taken from his second album “Laura” which was digitally released on Friday 22nd January.

Of course, Falconer is no stranger to the music industry having accumulated five hit albums, a Mercury Prize nomination and countless sold-out shows with his band The View.

The new album was recorded at “The Albion Rooms” in Margate in the summer of 2020 (The Libertines Hotel and Recording Studios). Indeed I was there when Kyle was first recording. He popped outside for a smoke and took my lighter!

Lighter stealing issues aside “Laura” is the first little taster of what we can expect in terms of new music from Kyle. Its a joyful track to behold blending stunning harmonies and softly sung melodies, creating a perfectly stunning song of unique and undoubted Falconcer style. From the jingly uplifting opening chords to the unmistakable Scottish lilt, it’s another true classic hit of Kyle Falconcer proportions.

Indeed it would seem that we’re not the only ones to babe picked up on the brilliance of this new music with “Laura” being added on Spotify to both their “Indie List” and “Fresh Finds” both within a week of release.

Despite their being no live music scene to speak of at present, Kyle has been keeping his hand in the game by performing a gig with his management buddies SHAMBOLICS as a special guest at their live stream gig where he did an epic cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Eveywhere” and he further raised funds for “Music Feeds” the at-home charity festival to fight Food Poverty, last weekend.

Kyle might of been a bit quiet on the music front for a while, but this latest release proves that the man has still got what it takes and we for one, are very excited to hear more of whats to come.

Listen to “Laura” for yourself here now.
